Introductory Notes by Rev. Bola
Is amassing wealth, a goal worth attaining? Is it indeed possible to be both wealthy and ethical at the same time? Is it necessary to cheat or scam others in order to be wealthy? Interesting questions.
As a practicing Spiritual Practitioner of many years experience, I believe that wealth is the natural state of the human spirit. We only need to look around us at the abundance of the universal supply of nature to see that this is true. There is no limit to the radiance of the sun, or the size of the night sky. If you have ever been at sea, you can only marvel at the vastness, and the depth of the oceans.
When we consider that Earth is only one tiny planet, amidst a huge multi-dimensional universe, we can begin to fully understand that, 'lack and poverty' were indeed never meant to be the portion of any human spirit. I believe 'poverty and lack' are artificially created conditions, and have nothing to do with the natural flow of abundance of the Universe. Stop and ponder this for a minute. How many thoughts do you think pass through your mind in one 24 hour day, not to talk of a lifetime? You get the picture?
I am convinced that abundance in all things, is my natural state of being; as is everyone else's. Believing this can allow us to feel very relaxed about our finances rather than continuously anxious. If wealth is our natural state of being, then, what is it that creates poverty or lack? There are some possibilities that immediately come to mind.
Selfishness: thinking only in terms of one's own gains at the detriment to those of others. Self-centredness: having a sense of personal entitlement that excludes others. Egotism: expecting to receive something of value without giving anything of value in return. Negative thoughts and attitudes towards others, treating other like slaves etc...etc....
I believe, wealth, ethics, morals and spirituality all go hand in hand. True wealth cannot be gained or maintained any other way, except morally and ethically. Some of the wealthiest people in the world, are incredibly generous people.
Oprah Winfrey is a good example.
Here are some spiritual lessons I have picked up along the way:-
The Bible Teaches that:-
"[The wicked man] will not become
rich, nor will his wealth endure" (Job 15:29)
"Surely every man walks about as a phantom; surely
they make an uproar for nothing; he amasses riches, and
does not know who will gather them" (Psalm
39:6)
"Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but
righteousness delivers from death"
(Proverbs 11:4)
"For what does it profit a man to gain the whole
world, and forfeit his soul? For what shall a man
give in exchange for his soul?" (Mark 8:36-37)
"Instruct those who are rich in this present
world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the
uncertainty of riches, but on God" (1 Timothy
6:17)
