The Flesh Beast: “Where’s My Flesh?”
The cold wet taping of rain scared little Adam as it rang in his ears like bells. It was his first week in the Insane Asylum Correctional Facility for boys and girls in the City of Cascade Falls . The Asylum was set up for troubled youngsters who had problems dealing with their feelings and got into trouble. For Adam it was a choice made up by his parents who decided it was time for the young boy to become a man and forget about seeing unicorns and fairies. He was only eight years old and on the first day heard rumors that the institute had a beast that ate children. It would come out at night and whispered, “where’s my flesh?” There were no screams to wake up the other children and nothing could be done to save them from this creature known as the Flesh Beast.
Adam couldn’t sleep his innocent, green, eyes were sapped with tears every
time they closed he could hear the beast deep in his mind. Adam remembered exploring the Asylum, which was like a castle. He had not played hide and seek on his first day until he met Joey and Jennifer. Joey the black hair boy with brown eyes was sent to the Asylum for throwing rocks at passing cars and stealing candy from gas station, a terrible sin if not worse. Jennifer, the green eyed, red head was in the institute for stealing toys from the Secret Santa Shop and throwing a cherry bomb down the toilet of the boy’s bathroom. Jennifer got ten strikes across her fingers on her first day for calling her an decrepit old bitch. Ms. Knealson, the school’s constable was anything, but attractive to the young people. Some of the children that spied on her claimed that she spent nights planning which child would be punished more than the other.
Adam rose out of bed after hearing something outside the room. He shared the room with Joey who slept above him on the bunk bed. It seemed every young child had committed sin and all Adam did was believe in Unicorns and fairies.
“Adam I hear something” yelled little Joey. Adam was silent and wondered what it was that Joey heard that made his voice sound so chilling. Suddenly, Adam didn’t’ have to wait too long to hear it. “Where’s my flesh?” the light whisper chimed. Joey’s eyes were wide as he jumped out of bed. The floor creaked with every step the two boys made towards the entrance of the door to see what it was. Ssccccrrrreeeeaaaattttcchhhhhh! The door warned with the loud noise that came from its old hinges. “Let’s go back to our beds,” shivered the little boy Adam. “Its the Flesh Beast, your not scared are you?” “No of course not,” answered Adam as he shook his little head while his lips trembled with fear. The two kids crept outside the door and looked around only to see shadows of darkness in the hallway where large windows aloud the moon to shine light through with shades of blue creeping through. “I heard stories that the Flesh Beast tears the muscles off the bones and uses your fingers as tooth picks!” Joey turned his head to Adam as his eyes widen in fear. The two boys could feel goose bumps chill there way to every pore until it pricked their soul.
“Where’s my flesh?” the whisper persisted in an agonizing question as the two boys kept walking towards the shadow on the wall to see a shadow of a human. Both boys looked at the shadow and were unsure as to what it was. It seemed that their creature was right in front of them. “Boo!” The boys jumped up in a scream and watched to see it was Jennifer emerging into the moon light. She was busy laughing at the boys and mocking them for being scared of a girl. It seemed to Adam that he wouldn’t see the end of it and would be known through out the Asylum as the girly boy. “Scaredee cats” she chuckled like a pig. “If anybody should get there skin ripped off its you!” gasped Joey, “Where’s my flesh?” whispered another voice. A deep growl voice echoed into the children’s ears. It was so scary that it chilled the boys and turned Jennifer’s prank into silence.
“What was that?” “I’m going down the hallway to see,” Joey commanded as he slowly walked down the hallway, Jennifer walked with him. Sweat filled his pores as he heard it again. He squinted his eyes in the shadows of the darkness and saw a pair of yellow eyes then a body stepped out of the darkness and into the reflection of the blue moon light.
“Where’s my flesh?”
The loud shriek filled the hallways as Jennifer ran away toward Adam. She could think of nothing better to do than hide under the covers. It snapped its shark like jaws in a jerky bellow to reveal the razor incisors. They moved up and down the jawbone and sounded like a wood splitter.
“Run back to your room!” Joey screamed in his retreat as he turned his head back to see it coming towards him in a run like no other. Its long ,greasy, mohawk hair and naked gray body made little Joey’s skin crawl. Suddenly, something grabbed his ankle and thrusted him on his back.
It kneeled down to him as saliva dripped from its translucent glass. They moved clockwise like a chainsaw. Its face blended with the darkness except the yellow eyes that pierced into his veins like poison. “Your my flesh!” It bellowed and swung its claws into the boys flesh like an apple pie. After the Flesh Beast took its last chomp of Joey’s polished white skeleton. It watched and smelled the naughty little girl run away straight to Adam’s room. The Beast let out a loud snarl and stretched its arms and hands in the air and charged after her. It ran after Jennifer on it’s four legs like a dog.
“Where’s my flesh?”
“Run!” she screamed just before the flesh beast pulled her back with the end of his hand and pulled off her head with his teeth and drank her blood from the edge of such neck like a soda pop can before unpeeling her like an orange. Little Adam began crying as he heard Jennifer cry out in terror for mercy. “No!” he screamed as he watched the creature chomp on the girl’s head.
It cracked a grin at Adam as pieces of fingers and toes entered its mouth from the toss of it’s claws. After shivering in his wet pants Adam ran in his room and slammed the door shut. “Where is my flesh!” It charged and broke through the door.
“Where’s my flesh!” The beast chanted as it walked around the room. It could smell piss under the bed and it bend its knees to pick it up. “Where’s my flesh?” It kept muttering like a broken record. Then with out warning the bed swung up to the ceiling and the Flesh Beast picked up the wet pajamas with his finger and flung them into the hamper. “Where’s my flesh?” It snarled as it picked up the bed embedded in the ceiling and swung it down on the ground. The beast grew tired of looking and decided to turn in early for the night. Adam pulled his head up from out of the hamper and felt cold and sticky in his wet underpants. He threw the wet PJs’ aside and was near to coming completely out when something grabbed him. “Where’s my flesh” The Flesh Beast howled piercing the boy’s harsh scream for help.
Adam rose out of bed as he gasped for air, it was only a nightmare. Adam hopped out of bed to see the door and bed was fine, but Joey was gone. A change of clothes would do and a quick bath. After he was finished he went down stairs to eat breakfast.
He sat in his chair with a fork and knife gripped to chow down. Ms. Knealson handed out the plates filled with breakfast and set Adam’s plate down before him. Adam opened the cover and shrieked to the sight of flesh, two hearts and a pair of eyeballs on some pancakes. The boy left running trying to hold his mouth shut. Ms. Knealson looked at the plate of eggs, bacon, and pancakes with two slabs of butter on top then at the running boy. Her eyes twinkled yellow as her high heel shoes tapped dance there way to the waste basket where she dumped the plate. She cracked a grin as she looked at the other children and whispered, “there’s still plenty of naughty children that I can feed my pet instead of worrying about the one that got away.” The constable turned away from the garbage and walked past tables of children and into the kitchen where she could hear the constant whispers, where’s my flesh?
